In a textual environment, proper spelling shows several things about yourself.
1: You care enough to try.
2: You have enough pride in yourself to try.
3: You have enough self-respect to want to give the appearance of intelligence.
4: You have enough respect for others that you are not attempting to force them to comply with your acronyms, netspeak, and poor spelling.

It's rather like someone walking up to you on the street, spouting gibberish with an interrogative inflection, and then growing agitated that you don't know what they're talking about.
It irritates people.

By the way... I looked at your other question.
You didn't misspell something, you spelled nearly everything like a retarded chimp on crack sitting at a keyboard with the keys in random places, pounding on it with a sledge hammer.

Well, call me an azz and sit on it! I can't stand it when people misspell words on forums. Yahoo provides the "spell check" option for those who have trouble spelling. As many have already said on here, typing is the only communication that you have on here, and you make yourself look like a dumbass when you can't spell sh!t. A few errors may pass, but when a person obviously has no control over their spelling, and the reader has to use the Rosetta Stone to decipher your mess, then written communication is not the thing for you. You have to remember that just because YOU understand it doesn't mean everyone else will. You have to care enough about yourself and the audience to relay effective communication and display of intelligence.

An occasional typo is normal, no big deal. But, as I have said before, I can't understand half of the questions posted because of poor spelling/ bad grammar.
Spell check is available, however spell check will not correct grammar and it does not distinguish words like their and there.
Long story short, this is an English language forum and standards should be kept. If one wants to be understood then one needs communication skills.

1) Yahoo! Answers provides a spell checker.

2) Yahoo! Answers asks you to look over and edit your question for errors.

3) This is the internet, and your written speech is the only representation of you. Would you like that representation to be ignorant, full of misspellings, or would you like it to be more professional? Do you want to be seen as a fool or not?

Because their is no excuse to misspell. anything because spell check only takes a second. Using correct grammar helps the answerer understand your question much better.

Not bothering to spell correctly is bad manners; especially as there is a Check Spelling option.

I also hate the ignorant mis-use of the apostrophe (I'm not mentioning anyone's name - but look at the answer above mine).

I guess people want to understand your question in order to answer it. Besides there is a spell checker, therefore there is no reason for error.

Some people are just picky I guess. If someone is genuinely asking a question I try to just ignore the errors, but when people are asking questions to insult others I usually say something.

Because we are communicating via written language. Also, there is a spell check button how hard it is to write properly?

Too many people are keen to assault our pedantic sensibilities. It simply is common courtesy to use the "Check Spelling" feature!
