The Cambrian is a geologic time period, all a part of the geologic time scale. It is the lowest portion of the Paleozoic Era. It's time is marked from 570 million years ago to approx. 505 million years ago. It is during this time period when "recordable" life began on this planet. The next time period that followed is the Ordovician. The time period when the "oxygenating" of the Earth's atmosphere is believed to have happened.
