Absolutely, she is third in line to the Presidency and part of our elected officials job is diplomacy and the protection of their countries citizens, which I believe this falls into. Also, we didn't hear Bush and his administration complain when Reps. Frank Wolf, Joe Pitts and Robert Aderholt met with Syrian President Bashar Assad in Damascus.

The answer is yes. There is nothing in the constitution that prevents her from meeting with heads of state. However, she is not allowed to set foreign policy, or negotiate a treaty, that is for the president to do.

You bet. Taxpayers elected her, and she represents the party that the majority of Americans want ruling the country. I suspect--although I can't prove it---that most sensible Americans believe we should try to talk to our enemies before we invade them. Pelosi apparently believes this too. Bush doesn't listen to the American people. He listens to the voices in his head telling him to start wars, murder and imprison people, and use our wonderful constitution as toilet paper. Democratic principles not only permit Pelosi to do what she's doing, they demand it. Viva Pelosi!

Actually, yes. Congressional delegations have always visited foreign countries. Quite frankly, this should be about as major an issue as the U.S. Attorney dismissals, but in today's environment of constant media-fueled scandals, they receive way more attention than they should.

Although it is a job for the Secretary of State, this obstinate administration has ignored the recommendations of the Iraq Study Group to get neighboring country's such as Iran and Syria to help in the stabilization of Iraq.
Nancy Pelosi is the third in line for the Presidency
She needed to go before BUSH came up with another pack of lies !!!!
In reporting that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is planning a visit to Syria accompanied by a bipartisan congressional delegation this week, several media outlets highlighted White House criticism of Pelosi's trip but did not note that a Republican-led delegation met with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Damascus on April 1 -- nor did they note the White House's inconsistency in criticizing Pelosi for her trip but remaining silent on the GOP-led visit.
Indeed, on April 1, Reps. Frank Wolf (R-VA), Joseph R. Pitts (R-PA) and Robert Aderholt (R-AL) traveled to Damascus and met with Assad, two days before Pelosi's scheduled trip.
Also Arlen Spector (R) took a trip to Syria and met with them in the fall of 2006

That's her job, just like all the republicans who visit Nassau's head of state...see how simple, even a neocon can understand. the difference is Pelosi is trying to open a dialog and make a peace, not make a war or ignore them.

As speaker of the House she is third in line for the Presidency, she can travel and meet with any head of State who will welcome her.
