i think there is not one answer for all people, its very individual,,,,,,, for some, striving for and finding happiness is their goal in life,,,,, for others, perhaps giving happiness is a major part, or even a goal, of their lives.
i personally think of happiness like a by-product, of other life activities, such as reaching spiritual calmness,,,,, developing and growing mentally,,,,,,,

Though the thought of happiness as the final goal, the last page, the Happy ending to the story, is greatly used, I believe that happiness is why we reach for our destiny. That thought that happiness might come to us in many forms when we reach our destiny is what guides us on, the carrot that leads the donkey, if you will. Happiness isn't, in my opinion, our ultimate destiny, because our destiny is much more than that. Our destiny is where we are supposed to end up in life, our purpose. The pursuit of Happiness is our drive, what makes us focus, but in the end, it doesn't fulfill our destiny. Where we will end up is our destiny, and though we wish it to be true, everyone's destiny is not always happiness or only pure happiness.
In conclusion, I believe destiny to be when we achieve a level of almost happiness when we decide to stop chasing pure happiness. It's when the donkey bends down to eat the green grass instead of hastening on, over the horizon, for that elusive carrot.

This answer is personal and may not work for everybody
firstly i don't believe in destiny (it is everything action and reaction)
But I think that happiness is the "ultimate destiny"(purpose of life would be more fitting) and not only happiness for achieving something but constant happiness enjoy every moment of life
