ur second part of the question was exactly what i was going to state, everyone knows it is made of cheese, the answer scientist are still trying to ponder is the type and why it is not a Brie, and if Swiss how come just craters and not complete holes, it is well known other planets in our solar system have moons of cheese also, but they have a more veiny texture and color as blue cheese

please note that religious fundamentalist claim that the moon is not cheese at all, but a cheese-like product made by God, sort of like Kraft American Cheese singles (but not as much calcium), (also why americans were first on cheese moon), as a matter of fact conspiracy theorist have claimed that cheese-like products never really came into existence until after america landed on the moon and gained the secrets of cheese-like imitation products, which one of the benefits of the space program was the development of "cheese-whiz"...
