You've read it before and yet you don't know it's "The Catcher *IN* The Rye"? It's one of the most prolific books of its time, I'm incredibly surprised your library doesn't have it. Look on Wikipedia, there's a plot summary and notes etc. Maybe genuinely take time to read a set text next time you have an essay.

First of all, there is no movie. So some people here are misinformed. Secondly, You should read the book. It's an important piece of literature..."inless" you don't want to go to college and be a burger flipper for the rest of your life.

Read the book.

It's the most boring book ever, barley remember the dumb thing. Just know that some chick gets hit with a car and it's pretty tight, like the other guy said "watch the movie" or you could try clipnotes, no?

Well if one library doesn't have it maybe another does? They can get it for you, too. Or go to a book store.

Buy the crib notes on it at the bookstore. No one here is going to be able to tell you everything you need to know.

There's a reason you're supposed to read it for yourself. I'd go 'fess up to the teacher and ask for more time.
