Dream means the images that comes to your mind when you are not in deep sleep. When you are in between actually consiousness and deep sleep thenyou are in dream state. Most of the time this is the imagination of te mind when the body is in complete relaxation. It is a perception of the mind. because mind always creates an imaginaryworld and put colour on that. This coloured imaginations are called dreams.

in what context? to dream, while asleep, is the ramblings of your mind, which doesnt also go to "sleep" or totally shut down,,,,,,, to dream,,,, as in a hope ,,,,, would be just that, to think up what you want for the future,,,, as in "i have a dream of being wealthy", there are also daydreams, which can be imagining your hopes or dreams, but also can just be imagining situations,,,,as in " i thought up a little story, in which i won the lottery,, and thus was wealthy,,,,,, i imagined myself picking up the check and going to the bank, buying a new home,,,, etc etc, wow was that a vivid daydream"
