This is probably due in part to the fact that much of our bodily functions rely on a series of bio-CHEMICAL reactions in order to work properly. If any of our own bio-CHEMICALS aren't produced sufficiently, then we need chemicals in the form of pills in order to get our own biochemistry back on track.

I think we're a quick fix society. if you have a headache, its easier to grab 2 Nurofen (NB Other pain killers are available!!) and carry on. Similarly, I have IBS, have had for years, and the pills Ive been taking for the last 10years ensure that my body can digest my food properly. now, if I just went on a strict diet for a few months, to find out what causes my illness, Id probably be able to come off the pills. However, its easier to take 2 pills before every meal and eat what the heck I like.
However, there are other pills that are VERY worthwhile, such as heart care etc. Without these, people would die. You may call this natural selection, but for someone who's lost too many people close to her, I have to say Id encourage the use of pills if it makes my family member's life 'safer'.
Great question, hope this answer helps.
Happy Easter!xx

some pills serve a very good purpose, what about those? Birth control pills? pills to lower blood pressure? Pills for wek hearts? Without those, people will die.. I think there are pills out there that are pointless, i.e headache pills. most of the time the person just needs water..
oh well.. people are always looking for the quick-fix

We live progressively longer and in less discomfort. Personally I would prefer not to go back to the middle ages when we died in infancy or had short tortured lives. I will keep taking the (appropriate) tablets if its all the same to you.
