i came to this problem when choosing which foreign university to go. i have 2 options. 1 is to go to a better, more prestigious univ with no friend around. 2 is to go to a lower ranking univ with all my friends around.

They are your friends now but who says they will be 4 years from now? Choose the more challenging school. You will meet new friends and you will have more in common with them than the friends you had in high school. Don't stunt your growth by trying to remain with high school friends...everyone changes, you need to live up to your full potential and not make a bad decision to attend a mediocre school when you could be flying with eagles.

i wont begin by saying that this is an easy decision, its not.

we have a natural tendency to consider colleges/ schools where are friends are going to study.

if you are able to get into the more prestigious school then do so without any hesitation. but make sure you are getting the course you want and everything is as you like.

you can still remain in contact with your friends via e-mail and visits during vacations. if the college which your friends liked is not to your liking and you go there just because they are going there then it will jeopardise not only your career but also your friendship.

but the ultimate decision has to be taken by you. speak to your parents, seniors and counsellors who may be able to give you proper guidance.

It depends where you think you'll get a better education best suited to your major. Besides, if you go to a school where all your friends are already then you probably won't be able to make as many new friends.

You have to look at the large picture. Your education is pretty much your future. Where you go or majior in will affect the type of career you have, money , enjoying the career and your future children or husband. Which to me is alot more important then where my friends are going to school, partying it up and such.

Do you have the chance of getting in? If so, which one is more suited to your options. Which one can you afford better? Do you need the extra prestige if, for example, you're going to be a teacher where you don't need all the extra bells and whistles?

Always go for the better school.

Besides -- you will make new friends. That is part of the experience.
