if one side of the cube is 10 inches, than the area of each face (since each face on a cube is a square) is 10^2 or 100 sq in. Since there are 6 sides to a cube, you need 100 in sq *6 or 600 sq in which is roughly 4.1 sq ft.

Put simply, the formula for the surface area of a cube with a side 10in long is 10*10 *6 = 600
