i have replace the rotted out wood, now what do i do? i was thinking of using fix-all to fill in any gaps and to make it level. is this the proper thing to do? Should i use something else? Help Please. also what type of glue should i use for the lino?

You should put down 1/4 inch luann subfloor then use any standard sheet vinyl adhesive.

Yes, you need to fill in all gaps and make the floor level. Otherwise, any imperfections will tranfer through to the linoleum. Find an adhesive that is comparable to the type lino you are installing. Home Centers carry all kinds and brands. Use the proper notched trowel to spread it. I used a 1/16" notched trowel on mine.

Yes the fix-all is a very good idea. Any Home Depot or Lowe's will be able to give you the proper type of glue to use for the lino.

That guy that said to use 1/4 subfloor under linoleum is right, that stuff is very smooth, and the only appropriate subfloor for vinyl flooring.
If the floor is way off, and you are not going to put wood on it, you can use a floor leveler which is like concrete, its in the tile section of your local building store.
I have heard there is a floor leveler you can use under wood floors and nail into, but i have never seen it.
