that say "you must send it to 7 people in ten minutes or you'll have bad luck or your wish won't come true etc... Why do we feel the need to do it? Is it because we feel we need to do what were told or what?

Responding to this type of chain mails arises from a feeling of personal insecurity, I think.
No one wants something bad to happen to himself/herself, while everyone wants to experience good things in life. Some of these mails are so carefully worded so as to arouse the sentiments of people. I have received some where they quote 'real' stories of people who have benefited enormously from forwarding the mails to others, and also tales of others who had some unpleasant things happen to them for refusal to forward the mails.
I think we should just delete the mails from our computer and also from our minds. Good or bad things that happen to us are not the result of acting on or refusing to act on e mails!

I don't feel the need to do it. Neither should you. What a load of rubbish.

I receive quite a few of them. Some of them are sentimental, friendship ones, some are jokes. But I hardly ever send any on - and if I do, it's not because I'm afraid of having bad luck, it's because I think it's funny or clever, etc.
