Two political parties dominate: the Republican Party and the Democrat Party.
There are alternative parties that aren't very successful on the federal, state or local level. These parties are called "third parties" because we are a "two-party system."
The are numerous third parties: the Libertarian Party, the Green Party, the Reform Party, Peace and Freedom, American Independent Party, etc.
You can also decline to be a member of any party, in which case you'd be an independent.
