Hi, I am wishing to perform a little experiment on myself - its completely safe no worries. I am on the combined pill loestrin 30, and was wodering if its still possible to be ovulating whilst on it and taking it properly. It is known that pregnancies occur whilst on the pill and wondered if my body is still ovulating or not, due to the pill. I was wondering, would me taking the pill have an affect on the OPK, I mean would the hormones in the pill that get absorbed into my body make the test valid or invalid? What do you guys think? Should I perform this little experiment? Any thoughts, contributions and ideas welcome.

The idea of oral contraceptives is that they prevent ovulation which in turn prevents the uterine lining from preparing each month for a possible pregnancy. The chances of conceiving on birth control...when taken exactly as directed is less than 1%.

However, if you wish to run an OPK, have at it. The pill itself will not affect the test other than proving to you that you aren't ovulating.
