Are you confusing Dragons Blood (sap from the Croton lechleri tree), a healing ointment with Hereditary Witch?

A Hereditary Witch is one who is born into a family of Witches. Sometimes, the immediate parents may not be practitioners and the link is through a grandparent, aunt, etc.

I could not find a site for you in tracking down if you are a hereditary witch, but this is a nice site: http://www.psican.org/Ashley/witch1.html

So, if you know you have an ancestor who was a witch, chances are you could be a hereditary witch.

Interesting question. If someone is a hereditary witch, but the family stopped practicing it, and the witch is not sure of his or her heritage, I think that most of the hereditary witches I know find out about it in a rather round about way, like for example, if it skipped a generation, your mom might make an offhand comment like, "Oh your grandmother was like that", or you might find something in your genealogy that there was a Gypsy in your background, or there might be a family legend that some ancestor way back in Scotland was a 7th son of a 7th son, and blessed with the Sight.... I just met one over the summer, who was just starting to realize it, it seems to go down her mother's side, through the female line, apparently her mother was waiting for her to reach a certain point in her life before revealing any more to her.. I don't know if there would be such a thing as a geneology site where you could trace your family tree with the specific intent of finding out if you are a hereditary witch. It has been traditional for the most part for family witches to keep that sort of information to themselves. If someone comes from a Family Traditional background of witches that go way back, that information is handed down as your heritage.... I am not a Famly Traditional myself, alas, I came to the Craft on my own...

Most keep it a secret - even in these somewhat less dangerous times. People in my family have been called 'witch' for most of the last 800 years as far as we know. Now for the most part this was what other people called us behind our backs. We knew that others thought we were different or weird, and in some ways they were correct -- but we did not generally call ourselves witches. People who say that there are no hereditary witches are correct in a way but in other ways completely wrong - it's just not that simple a question. A family history of many generations is still the history of individuals - each one had their own lives and some said things,or did things and others did not. Whether or not there is a genetic predisposition to be this way or not isn't something that has ever been studied really. I personally think there is something that could be thought of as inherited - as it is common for some families to have many people with musical talent or a talent for mathematics or languages. I've met other individuals from other families with this kind of history as well and inexplicably/intuitively we 'knew' that we shared this legacy and we each felt it was safe to trust the other.
So while there is no central registry (that I know of) we simply seem to be able to recognize each other instinctively.

Being a witch isn't something carried in the blood. Its not a genetic trait, its a belief and practice. If someone is telling you that they are the descendant of a powerful witch from 300 years ago and have some sort of supernatural power right out of charmed, they are just trying to make themselves feel better. If you study witchcraft and practice it then you are a witch. You don't need to waist your time with a false blood test to find that out.

Spiritual knowledge and tradition are transferred in the female genes, yet, even if you have the knowledge in your hereditary make up, you may need an education=bringing the knowledge from within. Due to historical prosecution of witches, many people have difficulties working with their "witches' blood". Reputable teachers suggest to access this knowledge slowly in the day dreams or in meditations and to seek a teacher if indicated in the messages received. I hope it helps.

I am not aware of any, the question is a bit of an enigma.. I am a Witch, my sister and one of my daughters are also.. I think you may be referring to what's commonly called a "Hereditary Witch"..... A Witch who claims to have been born of a Witch, who was born of a Witch, and so on ...I chose in this life time to be a Witch, my past lives are many, what I was, who I was have not yet been revealed to me ... Love and Light... )O(

My mother was a witch, my grandfather was a witch and my great grandfather was a Comanche Medicine Man. I don't know about before that. I seriously doubt that any genealogical search would reveal whether one has "witches blood" or not. I am pretty sure you won't find it by DNA either.

Why do you need to know? Witchcraft isn't Hereditary. If you want to be a Witch, you don't need ancestors who were Witches, Learn and grow on your own path.

You cannot be a "natural Witch" any more than you could be a "natural Christian".

There is no such thing as hereditary Witchcraft. If your family has an ancestral magical tradition, ask your parents or grandparents for information.

Are you serious? You ask, "Does anyone know . . . ?"

There can be only two possible answers to that question:

Somebody knows;
or
Nobody knows.

Certainly there must be someone out there who knows.

So my answer is a resounding
YES!!

But is that what you really were asking about?

Maybe you wished to determine HOW MANY people know?
