Macrame is the art of tying knots. You can use it for small stuff like friendship bracelets. Or you can use it with larger cords to make things like hanging tables and lamps. I have a Christmas tree I made some years back.

I'm not sure what you're seeking as the question is ambiguous?? There are any number of Hobbies/ Crafts that make use of knot-tying:
a) Seamanship... knowing the knots involved in basic Deck-seamanship / Sailing.
b) Pioneering: knowing the knots used to build "pioneer" structures... engineering with rope and logs (http://www.usscouts.org/usscouts/mb/mb084.html)
c) Fly-tying / Fly-fishing: the knots used in constructing fishing-flys... and fly-fishing.
d) Macrame-Lace-Knitting: Crafts done with knotted yarn, string or plant matter.
Good luck with whatever you're seeking.
