I can't believe you are even asking this! not seeing real life friends would be way way worse - and if you believe in the latter (use of the internet for a year), then that is a sign of the social downward spiral of the world since the internet became availableDon't get me wrong, I love the internet (especially answers) but my friends give me real quality time, real-life amazing memories and shared experiences in beautiful locations, including sounds, smells, touch - something you can never get off the internet.

Think of it this way. What if you had only the internet and your computer to connect through to the outside world for 24/7 in one room and this is considered to be your world or space in life? After a few days or weeks you will be bored to tears. You will long to see another living thing leave alone a human being or a friend.

This will make the answer to this question clear to you. Man was made so that we interact and love each other. This is second nature to us and just because of the advance of technology our inbuilt nature will not and should not become second best. This will become unhealthy for ourselves over time.

I hope we dont arrive at such a situation a decade or two from now - if we are alive.

I'd have to say to be banned from the internet... Once, we lost power for about 4 days and I almost went crazy. I'd think of something that needed to be done...and then I'd remember, "Crud, can't get on line..." Plus, I don't get to see my friends in person that much anymore... I work too much.

Not seeing my real friends would be a thousand times worse. The problem with the internet is that the contact is not actual, there is not an honest day-to-day connecting, and you cant have a cuppa and a hug with your computor.

Depending on your age, I'd take the internet over seeing friends. You can see them in school plus chat with them online. Depending on your age, perhaps you can make up a "probationary" period with your parents to show you can be responsible. I don't know what you did, but it must have been pretty bad for them to give you those two options.

Good luck!
