I just bought a camera device, I have succesfully installed it, but when I connect the USB cable to the camera device I get the following message:

USB device not recognized
one of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it. For assistance in solving this problem, click on this message.

Can anyone help me with this problem?

It could be many things.

First of all try restarting your computer.
if it doesn't work,
Plug in your camera using the same cable into another computer.
if it doesn't work,
Try another cable, they're pretty cheap and common.
if it doesn't work on both computers, the camera is probably damaged.

You don't need to install the software on the second computer, if the camera works, a pop up should show up asking you to install it. It should recognize it anyway.

If Windows 98, install all camera software.

If XP, take the camera back to the vendor.

If Vista, wait for compatible drivers.

If Mac or Linux, you wouldn't be here.
