In the very early days of tennis history such as around the time of Bill Tilden they used to wear pants. Over time that started to change because of comfort especially during the summer months.

As a player at the club level - the sport is demanding from a cardio perspective, as well as the need to lunge and stretch etc, so long pants would get in the way and cause you to sweat more and be uncomfortable.

the people who watch tennis are, usually, more than half women. It's a sport that ladies like to watch, so...
take it from there and figure it out.

2.The sweat will make the pants stick to their legs and reduce their mobility.

if you have ever played in them you would no that they seriously hinder your movement and reflexes. if you watch real wrestling or boxing you will see that the wear as little as possible and it all is stretchy and fitted well.
