My total cholesterol was 225 when I went vegan. I have since varied between vegetarian and vegan. I got it checked a year later, and it was 195, and it was mostly the bad cholesterol that went down. I'm really happy about that :)

Garlic works.

Modern medical science suggests one reason garlic might reduce cholesterol: garlic is a proven anti-oxidant (2). This property might help to prevent LDLs from being oxidised. In this way the cholestrol build-up that clogs the arteries could perhaps be reduced by garlic.

ok, this is gonna suond strange, like you don tthink you can do it, but it has worked for my father who is 50 and he lost 20 lb in two months in the process.
no high glycemic carbs
cut out the following from your diet:
white rice( brown id ok) bread ( whole grain and not the whole grain white stuff) sugar in anything, potatos( yams and sweet potatos are ok) and pasta and chips and crackers. stick to meat and fruits and vegetables and it will get much better. my fathers cholesterol was so high, if he even thought about a donut, it could give him a heart attack, an dhe isnt obese.

good luck
