What an excellent question!! Opening the borders would create more unemployed border guards, customs officials etc. It would also be very, very difficult to make individual countries give up their laws and customs to comply with a universal set of laws. Opening the borders would however allow more travel opportunities to those of us who want to see the world. It would also be difficult to have one universal government as all people have different sets of values. But one planetry government, isn't that what Bush wants? Could you see a world governed by Bush or similar? I think the status quo should be maintained.

There are limited resources in the world and open borders will vastly reduce the living standards of Western working people who will have to shoulder the cost of an influx of mainly useless people.
Now is the time for strict border controls, an end to political asylum and immigration limited to those essential to the well being of this country.
Sixty years of post war socialism have already created an unproductive underclass in the UK; priority should be given to dealing with this problem, not leaving the door open for further road congestion, housing shortage and higher taxes.

There are far to many foreign people in this country, already. But on the other hand, if people got off their backsides in this country and did some work for a change we'd never need all these migrant workers coming over here to take our jobs.
Also would it not be better is everyone help each other so they could stay and work in their native country?
P.S. I don't have anything against foreigners in general.

I was thinking about this ....We are bursting at the seams. The hospitals, schools, dentists everywhere is full which makes me scared that either mother nature will deal with it or they drop the bomb. I personally think theres no solution now its gone too far.
