Turn off the mic. That always works.

Obvious lip syncing: Music videos, big dance routines

Be advised: When the sound level for the voice changes (usually gets louder when they are singing, because they turn off the mic and then the recorded voice has to be louder than the instruments if there is any because the music itself can be recorded too) from when they are talking to when they are singing, when you can hear the voice over "loud" music, when every song sounds exactly like the CD if it's a pop or rock song (in classical the best try to sound the same for every performance which makes things harder since one of the "best" was charging several hundred dollars a seat just to hear him lip sync and nobody caugh it).

Flaws stand out both ways. If the flaws are put in on purpose then it will stand out because the singer would be making the mistake at the same place every time which would be unlikely. If the singer makes different adjustments such as breaking out to talk to the audence each time the song is sung, then it's probably not lip synced.

Ask Lip-Syncing Simpson.

I think the person above got it right.
I have always been very good at knowing when someone was lip-syncing. Usually it sounds too much like on the album.
I say give a best answer to the person above.
