Okay so when I plug my broadband cable into my desktop, it works fine. When I plug it into my laptop, it recognises it and says that a local area connection is connected. I try to open the internet but it wont open.
I open the network connections bit and try to repair the connection.
It comes back saying it cant cause the ip address cant renew.
So I go to the command prompt and type 'ipconfig/release' and it says its already released.
I then type 'ipconfig/renew' and it says that it cant as it cant connect to the DHCP server.
So whats wrong???? and how do I fix it?

well this is the best way to check go to start, the run, cmd type that in type ipconfig, see if u have a ip address if not ipconfig /release then ipconfig /renew then if not check your cable from the router to the computer if more problems contact your company your going through

It sounds like your Broadband Modem is looking for a different MAC address (like many cable modems do)....Unplug the power from it...(and the backup battery if equipped like mine) leave it unplugged for about 30 seconds....and plug it back in....your IP address should automatically renew...

Try the following at the command prompt (without the quotes):

"netsh interface ip reset resetlog.txt"

do as following.

1) uninstall your laptop's network driver. Install it from your cd.

2) Assign all IP address as your computer have into laptop.
Note: You Can do from netwrok places- local area netwrok- properties-tcp/ip -properties.set all attributes.
