Hi Sudares, this is actually called Maundy Thursday and it refers to Holy Thursday, the day before Good Friday when Jesus instituted the Eucharist at the last supper, and also commemorates the washing of the Apostles feet, the word Maundy comes from the Latin word Mandatum which means commandment,Jesus said to His Apostles `A new commandment I give you,Love one another as I have loved you`.

It's actually called Maundy Thursday, and it is the Thursday before Easter. It is the day that commemorates the Last Supper Christ had with his Apostles.

If you don't know about the Last Supper, Christ had an evening meal with his Apostles on the day before he died. That's when he washed their feet, and also when he taught them about the Holy Sacrament. He also suffered his agony in the Garden of Gethsemane later that night, and was betrayed by his apostle, Judas Iscariot.

The day is also called Holy Thursday, as the whole week leading up to Easter has a name on the liturgical calendar. It is a special week, and there are special services every day to commemorate Christ and what he did in the last week of his life and then on the day he was resurrected.
