It looks the same as your normal period really although maybe slightly lighter. Women on bc don't ovulate because of the hormones in the bc and many of them have normal periods, not necessarily lighter. I say this cause that's how it's been for me and a few of the friends I've actually talked about this with.

First, you absolutely can menstruate without ovulating...and, you can ovulate without menstruating.

As for your periods, they are usually the same whether you ovulate or not.

When the egg is not fertilized it disintegrates and is absorbed back in the bloodstream. You have to remember that an ovum can't even be seen by the eye...it's very tiny.

How clotty your flow is just depends on the lining of your uterus. Sometimes having fibroids or some other condition going on in the uterus (like endometriosis) will cause blood to be heavier and clotty.

Birth control pills will often make your flow lighter and shorter because there's no ovulation... however, that is an articial environment created by the pills. When a woman doesn't ovulate on her own her periods are usually no different than when she does.

The ovum (egg) is the largest cell in the human body, but is still a single cell and contributes very little to the menstral flow. The flow is the sloghing off of the lining of the uterus. Not ovulating wouldn't make a noticable difference to the flow, unless its due to the contraceptive pill, which reduces the thickness of the uterine lining as well as preventing ovulation, so reducing the flow.
Hope this helps, B
