There are two possiblilities.
First: Nationalist intestest will win, and Europe will still be a continent of nation states. In this scenario, European states will have little say on the world agenda, because they are acting separately. In a world of 10 billion (very conservative estimate), how much say would a country of 60 million have? (European states have little to no population growth) Other powers will dictate the European Agenda.
Second: The EU will continue growing, both in integration and expansion. By integrating, it will eventually form a federation of European States that act as one, and the diversity within will create a new powerhouse of the world, letting the EU become a world power. By expansion, it will eventually include the current EFTA states, the Baltic, and possibly the former Soviet States (and possibly Turkey).
People may talk of the middle road between these two, but history shows that either governments are strenghening or weakening, not staying the same. Either the EU will fade away (in the long term) or strenthen into a new government. Just as an example, the US started out as a weak confederation, but over time strengthened into a strong federation (over 200 years).
