I agree. It's not about being racist. The fact is ,this country is bursting at the seems as it is. Our economy is stretched because of it. We've GOT TO at the very least, limit the number of immigrants coming to live in the UK,whether they be black,white,yellow,pink,green...or whatever. Colour of skin or national origins have nothing to do with it.

Right! I am an immigrant of sorts myself, and anyone can see that the country is being stretched to breaking point! Housing, medicine and even employment! But the politicians just don't live in the real world. I love the diversity we have now, but we are simply FULL UP!

Because, usually the next part of the discussion is about people sneaking over the border from Mexico, floating in on rafts from Haiti, or at least Ted Kennedy's bomb throwing cousins. Face it, even angry, old man radio has yet to ***** about Beckham playing soccer, hot Czech models, Russian strippers, or that half the US magazines are run by Brits.

I have heard some Brits complaining up a storm about Madonna though, so maybe its just here.

It's a sensitive subject to many people. I personally don't believe you are being racist when you talk about the illegal Mexicans coming over the US border. So I couldn't tell you the logic behind it. It's a fact the immigrant issues surrounds the people coming from Mexico, hence, they are Mexican. It has nothing to do with being racist. If it was Chinese flooding the country, we would talk about them.

It depends on what CONTEXT you mention the word in. Immigration is a pretty "hot" topic nowadays- so people tend to "fly off the handle" about it pretty easily when it comes up. Just ignore the "hotheads" -& state your case. It's still legal to have an opinion in this country- even IF nobody agrees with you. :)

The word immigration is usually proceeded by "illegal" and people resent lawbreakers not only sneaking in but getting perks they're not entitled to. I heard an illegal say she had Constitutional rights. Yes, if you're a citizen, which she's not.

Immigration reduces opportunities in own country. As unemployment rate is increasing in UK,USA etc resistance to immigration will increase. In as much the immigrants do not merge with local culture it will become racism.Example Sikhs in UK.They are unable to accept UK culture and Uk as their home. They want to work, earn and perhaps go back when they retire. It is partly due to the immigrants'nature and attitude.

It's the latest band wagon for people to jump on. Often they seem to be looking for any excuse to raise the issue of racism so they can tell anyone who's listening that they are against it. They simply are trying to pigeon-hole people into the "racist category" so they don't have to listen to any rational arguments that differ from their own.

Some people are just sad and like to pounce on you for speaking your mind. I am going to speak my mind too! we all have different opinions on this, if I upset anyone it is tough!

At the end of the day we have to look after our own interests in this country. Britain has problems of its own to deal with like housing, jobs, people that are homeless etc- we need to look after our own people.

What annoys lots of people in Britain is that immigrants get given lots of things when they come to Britain ie houses ( I cannot even afford to rent a bigger property let alone buy one), jobs and benefits. I work hard for a living (dont get paid a lot for it though). I work 32 hours a week, pay my rent and general bills and taxes. I am also paying for people to sit on their arses all day long. It really makes me angry, that people that dont pay into the system get given everything, and good people like you and I get bugger all.

The truth of the matter is nobody likes it when someone is getting a better deal than you - and you are trying to get on.

There you are got that off my chest! feel a lot better for it.

If people dont like my comment it is tough sh*t.

Because by labelling you a racist you are effectively marginalised and you can be safely ignored and anything you say can then be twisted into whatever form the listener wants.
Immigration control is not only needed but is necessary for the security of the nation.
