Our packers have always wanted us to leave them on the walls. They pull them off as they go, and nothing gets in their way.
Treat your packers well. Offer water and snacks.
Watch them carefully, report workers who are doing a bad job.
Finally, stay out of their way.

I'm sure its fine either way, most movers expect some packing, namely large items like TVs and furniture, and they'll take the initiative with other stuff. But Its gonna cost you extra as the move and your cost will have an hourly charge involved.
Personally, I'd pack things like that to ensure they get handled carefully and not forgotten. During a move is stressful and your attention will be on many things so you may end up forgetting something like a picture.

I completely agree with Brooke & R's response, check on your moving company. A good place is movingscam.com, which has a black list and histories of movers all over the country. They are very poorly regulated and have a habit of holding your goods hostage until you pay exorbitant extra fees. I've been though it and recommend ABF Freight which you pack and they haul. If you want to use movers (and I'm sure some are trustworthy) pack anything breakable first.

mover just move boxes and large items. If you want your items packed, then you need to hire packers. Some moving companies do both, but it costs more.

you take everything off the wall, put everything you wish to take with you in boxes yourself. you must label and designate everything you want to movers to take. They are only physically taking your stuff out of the house, putting your things in the truck, and taking them back out of the truck into your new place, furniture, boxes, etc. Make sure you bubble wrap those pics.

If u are paying some proffessional firm who has had an upper hand in the region then u dont need to worry as they will do everything. But u have to be carefull and supervise properly.
