Any marriage where the necessary conditions for such marriage are not followed amount to a void marriage. For example if there is a condition that the parties to the marriage should be unmarried or divorcee or widow or widower as the case may be but if any one of them is not following this condition or in simple words he or she is married at the time of such a marriage then such a marriage will be a Void marriage. Other hand, for example if the marriage has not been consummated owing to the willful refusal of the other party to consummate the marriage such a case is of void able marriage, in either of the case you go to family court to get a decree of nullity which declare such a marriage Null & Void, without this decree of court you cannot call this marriage void to get decree of nullity is also known as annulment of the marriage. To find if the person to whom you got married had his previous marriage annulled you have to check the family court (of the area where he/she resided or worked) records which are open to public on payment of nominal examination fee.

Annulled means a marriage was dissolved without being divorced. Rules vary by state, but most of the time you must:
1) have been married less than a year
2) not have consummated the marriage
3) have good cause, such as finding out AFTER the license was signed and approved that you're related, etc.
4) one of the spouses was not of legal age or of mental capacity to enter into the marriage and it was done without the guardian's consent
If there is any question as to whether or not your previous marriage was annulled (although it would be highly unlikely for you to not remember), you can check the records in the county clerk's office where the marriage took place.

Annulment is when the church acknowleges that the marriage never took place. Which I think is silly. If a person in a marriage get's divorced and one of the parties petitions for an annulment, well yes if it is granted the other may not know that it was done by the church.

A marriage can be annulled (voided) if someone married another person under false pretenses. Normally happens very soon after the marriage has taken place.

Null and void marriages are annulled by the court on petition by either spouse within one year of marriage. Thereafter the spouses will be free for marriages.
