You know you have really asked for it man. If you do the research it infacts makes you look smarter. Wanna see my research?
Here it is.
One of the major points for God is right in the laws of thermal dynamics. One of the laws of thermal Dynamics is "Chaos may come from order but order never comes from chaos except with the help of an outside force"
In the "Big Bang" theory two large masses called dark matter collide in a "chaotic explosion" that jump started the beginning of the universe. Now remember the laws of thermal dynamics are proven fact. Scientists own laws discredits the big bang theory with one single swoop.
Now before anyone mentions that thermal dynamics only applies to a closed system let me remind you that the universe is still expanding today. In a closed system the rate is either constant or increasing. Never decreasing. Scientists expected as time past that the expansion of the universe would slow down as expected in an open system but to their surprise the rate of expansion is not slowing but increasing in speed! That suggests a closed system nay it proves a closed system. Thus the universe is a closed system and therefore the laws of thermal dynamics apply to it.
Now back to that law of thermal dynamics.
The only way the big bang could actually work is with the help of an outside force. Guess who that outside force is. God? DING DING! Correct!
You see if you actually study. people who don't believe intelligent design look like they are just grasping for any theory that excludes the existence of God.
P.s it may be true that we share 98% dna with chimps but we actually have a better dna match out there. Wanna know what it is? Earthworms. Common earthworms. Until I see earthworms hunting with spears I will continue to believe.

I do not believe that it does. It is human nature to wonder why we are here and the most obvious explanation is that someone put us here. Sigmund Freud in his writings about religion poses the theory that humans feel the need to have a father figure. Many people find comfort in having a god, and can cope better with problems in there life. Many cannot fathom the finality of death, hence their must be an afterlife. The thinking behind it is all very logical.
Seeing as how America in far from being the only Country that favors creationism it does not make us look stupid. Creationists are in the majority so they only look stupid to the minority, and no one cares what we, the atheists, the minorty think.

Whoa there.....The idea didn't just start in America, it is a global belief, stupid it may be but it is a reflection of the human condition not just an American genetic defect.
Actually I can't imagine that the majority of Americans would believe in creationism anyway, I don't think that is taught in most schools there is it?
I must say that the claim of Pres. Bush that God told him to invade Iraq makes those (70 million evangelist) Americans that believe him look incredibly stupid, more like sheep (or perhaps lambs to the slaughter).
Human beings can hardly be called INTELLIGENT design can they, rather design of sorts, a rather mediocre effort, could do better.......grade : D minus, I think.
Perhaps I am a little generous with the grade (only because some of us are endowed with a sense of humor).
Off to bible thumping class for me!
Ignorance is such bliss.!
Best wishes and peace be with you all.......even Jesus managed to laugh a lot, perhaps not at the last supper though.

No: there are many other things that make them look stupid.
Moreover, it is the fact that such "lowest common denominator" individuals are allowed to divide the country, foment serious debate about the vracity of such a theory rather than the theory per se (which in and of itself may be quite intelligently conceived), and argy-bargy to and fro interrupting both educational policy and process in certain States that renders the national image of the United States closer toward its functional reality.
But not to worry: The Reject For America in the New Century is working its miracles, a wonder to behold - from overseas!

No and that i'm drained of folk questioning that evolution of very almost a fact. it really is a theory and would in no way be some thing more advantageous. Creationism and wise layout provides a diverse standpoint on how the universe got here about. i imagine that it shows that we do not take in spite of is the lastest craze and have self assurance it with none questioning about some issues that are difficult to describe.

First off, I dont know what Americans have to do with your question, Secondly, any religion who still worships as they did 2000 years ago or more is about as naive as people come! No matter what religion, it seems every one of them puts words into Gods mouth and judges how the All Mighty chose to create! Lets face a fact. If God decided to use evolution as the method, SO BE IT! Who are we to judge?
To Ellen J... So some old fool chewing a coca leave and puffing on a fat doob came along and wrote scripture, Does that make it a truth? God DIDNT write the Bible! A bunch of old unknowing, uneducated fools did! I've seen dinosaur bones til their hangin out my bum! I still havent seen one iota of a piece of Ark wood!
SLYNX...I believe in God! I also believe in evolution! What makes you think evolution is a form of atheism? You aint even close! I simply choose to look at it with a modern approach. Matter of fact, a good lot of people believe in both! Get out of the past! I suppose you look up in the sky at nite and tremble in fear when you see a comet! Warning from the Lord! For Christs sake and I mean that literally, get with the times! Evolution and religion CAN go hand in hand! Its time for you back woods bible thumpers to quit being cave men!

Yes if it were up to Christians, the Earth would be 10,000 years old living amoung Dinosaurs, and we would be praying to Jesus and we would be punished for ever reading about Darwin, and Evolution. Creationism isn't Science, and Evolution is a Fact, no longer a theory. Jane Goodall for darn sakes saw monkeys themselves hunting with spears. We share %98 of thier DNA. How can we not have evolved ? Why can't Christians tell us that ? Without any intelligant person laughing, because they know no God has ever been proven. You can't prove the inexistance.

Yes.
Judging by this survey, yes:
"A comparison of peoples' views in 34 countries finds that the United States ranks near the bottom when it comes to public acceptance of evolution. Only Turkey ranked lower."
http://www.livescience.com/humanbiology/060810_evo_rank.html
Woo hoo! ... We're number 33 out of 34! (At least we beat out Turkey.)
And judging by some of the answers on this page alone, yes.
Take Warrior Poet's answer:
> One of the laws of thermal Dynamics is "Chaos may come from order but order never comes from chaos except with the help of an outside force"
There's a guy just making stuff up! He can't even *spell* thermodynamics, much less know what it says. Hint: There is no such law. He's trying to express the Second Law of Thermodynamics ... but he isn't even close!
> "In the "Big Bang" theory two large masses called dark matter collide ..."
Again, not even close.
> "Now before anyone mentions that thermal dynamics only applies to a closed system let me remind you that the universe is still expanding today."
The definition of a "closed system" in thermodynamics has absolutely NOTHING to do with expansion, much less with the rate of that expansion. He is confusing two completely unrelated topics.
Hint: The Universe is indeed a closed system, but not because it is expanding, but because it has no outside energy source (that we know of). But this is irrelevant to the question of evolution of life on earth because the earth most certainly is NOT a closed system (as it has an external energy source).
> "it may be true that we share 98% dna with chimps but we actually have a better dna match out there. Wanna know what it is? Earthworms. "
?? Where does he get this stuff?
Now, I don't mean to pick on Warror Poet ... but he is a perfect example of what happens when creationism interferes with the teaching of science. You get people who have little snippets of science and throw around technical-sounding terms like "thermal dynamics" without any real understanding of what they mean, or whether they're scientific terms at all. In short, you get BAD science.
So yes, creationism and intelligent design makes us Americans, on average, look like scientifically illiterate IDIOTS.
It is an *embarassment* to Americans who actually paid attention in science class.

yes it does, trust me I'm not from america and thats the impression I got. Its like the lack of cultures that are soley american has caused you to over compensate on the side of religion. Its like you flaunt it too much to get gods attention, I've even heard of people praying to win lotto or to get cars or better jobs. You need to learn to be more humble and work hard for your goals. Its what you expect from religon that makes you look stupid.
