Three of my favourite people in history are:
Ulysses S. Grant - Union General and American President
William T. Sherman - Union General and Author
Don Carlos Buell - Union General (Army of the Ohio)
All three were at the Battle of Shiloh, April 6 & 7, 1862.
That is nearly 145 years as of the day(s) after tomorrow.
There were all leaders, who saw war firsthand, and lived to tell and write about it so that others may know.

My favorite? Alexander the Great!! Why?

He was the first great conqueror who reached Greece, Egypt, Asia Minor, and Asia up to western India. He is famous for having created the ethnic fusion of the Macedonians and the Persians. From victory to victory, from triumph to triumph, Alexander created an empire which brought him eternal glory. He brought Greek ideas, culture and life style to the countries which he conquered, and assured expansion and domination of Hellenistic Culture which, together with Roman Civilization and Christianity, constitutes the foundation of what is now called Western Civilization!

And he did all of these before he was 30!!

Give me one person that is greater!

Jesus Christ ... He was sought after as a newborn, having been prophesied of and searched for by kings, wise men, and lowly shepherds... He grew up and taught many people a better way to live, he was a great teacher and had faithful followers... He finished his ministry and gave his life for all mankind so that everyone would be saved... and ressurrected
His life alone has affected multitudes of people from the beginning of time on the earth, to the time of his life here... even now in this time, he still has a great effect on so many millions of people... whether or not they believe in Him, they have usually heard his name and know something of his words. He has at least two times of the year that are set up to celebrate his birth, as well as his ressurrection ... He has a set of scriptures that are written as a history of his people, his life and his teachings... He created the earth, came to live here and has also returned to earth in modern times... The letters that designate the years were divided by a BC, and AD... so Christ's birth and life was in the median of the timeline... He still has many people waiting for his 2nd coming
so, whether it be Jews, Gentiles, whomever or wherever they are, Jesus is a great part of history... without him, all life would be meaningless!

General Patton
He is a fellow San Gabrielian, led with reckless abandonment, and still kicked but. How many other people did Hitler fear? He never retreated in war, also, he slapped two malingerers who were sitting out during battle. His wonderful speech-I have never seen anyone win a war by dying for his country, you win by making the bastard on the other side die for his. Ya gotta love it,

OOOOOHHHHH RAAAAHHHH

Benjamin Franklin. He was one of the smartest and most intelligent people that lived, but he was a very eccentric and colourful character. He knew how to have a good time.

Edit: Plus, he and I have the same first name.
