Considering the amount of opposition that inevitably arises whenever enviornmental issues are raised, I doubt hes doing it strictly for political gain.

If hes financially invested in enviornmentally friendly strategies, that's called putting your money where your mouth is.

In case anyone forgot what that means

I first really asked this question about a week ago, and I have to say the following:

Al Gore wants so much more than another shot at the oval office:

1. He wants to be Noah, and be the one to save the world from the "flood" (ironically, according to him, there is a flood that will flood 20 feet above sea level, if you've watched An Inconvienient truth) in this case it's global warming instead of the wrath of God.

2. He wants to make a LOT of money. Al Gore owns part of a company called Generation Investment Management which came about in 2004 (coincidence with his movie and campaign? I know better and so do you :P). Whenever you hear him talk about carbon offset programs, carbon offset taxes, his own carbon offsets (which are in fact, investments he has made in his own company), the "electra-net" (this will be covered right below), or any sort of shift of money that will affect the American economy, he is essentially making a proposition for you and I to pay him MONEY, either directly or indirectly.

3. The label of credit for the internet didn't stick, so Gore wants to create the "electra-net" as he put it in an address to congress in late March of 2007. (I know he never actually said he invented the internet, but he claims to have invested in it in the address to congress). I think the date was either on the 21st or 23rd of March (you'll know by his reference to the movie "300" before the first half of the address, which is about 30 minutes long) when he stated the idea of the "electra-net". Basically the idea is to allow private citizens to buy solar panels and windmills for private property and hook it into the electric grid, thus their money buying such commodities would go to companies which Generation Investment Management invests in, thus Al Gore would get money from those appliances, as well as credit for the "electra-net".

4. He wants the Nobel Peace prize, for his ability to make you think he's really trying to save the world from iminent danger.

In finality, I would like you to consider this:

Al Gore is being heralded as a world saving prophet who should be uplifted for his "eloquent" and "practical" words concerning the "threat" of Global Warming, while in the mean time

George W. Bush, our current president, has been virtually discarded by the public and scapegoated as detrimental to progress in fighting Global Warming.

I don't see a big difference in character between these two individuals. They're both politicians of the same meager caliber, and slicing it any other way is sheer partisan denial.

Don't get me wrong, while I am undecided on whether there is or is not global warming happening in the world, my opinion on this answer is solely based on my questioning of Al Gore's integrity and motives.

Political gain is not Al Gore's goal. Becoming a zillianair is. Al Gore speaks of "carbon neutrality" While consuming more than 20 times the energy of a typical american household. He flys to give empassioned speeches regarding pollution and greenhouse gasses on a private jet that spews co2. So how does Al Gore stay "carbon Neutral"? He buys "carbon credits". And where does he buy them? From the company he founded and owns!!

fer sure Mr. Gore is seeking some kind of personal gain and satisfaction from his environmental interests. his movie has done quite well, no doubt he gets paid big bucks on the lecture circuit and hopes to make money with environmentally friendly businesses. as far as his political aspirations. well ... he hasn't jumped into the presidential race yet.

i, personally, don't understand the venom displayed by some of these people towards Mr. Gore. they complain about his mansion using so much electricity but apparently don't know that his home is also an office building and a work space.
i guess maybe these folks don't like to be told that if we humans keep trashing our environment there will be serious consequences and Mr. Gore is the messenger they've decided needs to be shot.

first of all, Vice-President Gore purchases carbon offsets for his air holiday (which isn't consistently in a private jet, in actuality he flies commercial while ever conceivable), there through no longer basically ultimate carbon impartial, yet in addition encouraging the upward push of the fairway economic equipment. 2nd, he gained the award the comparable way every physique does, the Norwegian Noble Committee from among those names placed into nomination chosen him. The Noble Committee is self sustaining, although appointed through the Norwegian parliament, and are able to award it to quite lots every physique they please. This 3 hundred and sixty 5 days, they chosen to award it to Al Gore and the Intergovernmental Panel on climate substitute. As for why, the Noble Committee needless to say perspectives our surroundings as a humanitarian concern and has chosen to renowned the IPCC as a physique and Al Gore exceptionally for his or her efforts in this section. it incredibly is their prerogative.

No. Politically he is dead. He does it for money, and to feel self-worth, since he has always been insecure. Liars are the most insecure people in the world. Remember his claim to have invented the Internet? How ridiculous was that lie! And so easily proved false. It seems he will say and do anything to make himself feel important, whether it is a lie, or the truth. In fact, I can't think of one truth that ever came from his mouth. I also remember during one of the debates with Mr. Bush, how Gore got up into his face, and tried to intimidate Bush. He failed, as he has failed in politics. Gore was raised by his father to be the president, and all he was was a disappointment. He knows this, so finds any means to feel worthy. He is failing at that, too.

If Al Gore wanted to be president so badly he could have really pushed for a recount of the ballots in Florida instead of conceding to bush so soon just because the nuttiest supreme court ever appointed the shrub.

He actually won the election of 2000, but bush wasn't just enough to demand a fair recount.

Ding! Ding! Ding! You got it! He's still reeling from losing Florida 2000; he is busy laying the foundation for a massive energy consumption tax which will hurt the poor and middle class in the USA.

I say nop. When he ran for President, Oil prices in America skyrocketed. Gore convinced President Clinton to try to reduce the price of oil by releasing the Countries reserves. WE were in hostile situation with Iraq at the time and the oil was there in case of war. If Al Gore was serious about the environment , he would let the oil prices climb. If you noticed, when oil prices are high, people use less oil and corporation starts looking for alternative fuel sources.

Think so. He hasn't said a word about the recently found flaws with the global warming theory. All of the planets have global warming right now.

It was hotter 6,000 years ago and there have been faster temperature changes in the past. NASA blames the sun for the temperature changes.

Most global warming theorists have never heard of the term "solar variability". Solar variability caused the earth to leave the ice age in less than 20 years, and it caused the earth to have a little ice age several hundred years ago.

NASA: "Rapid changes between ice ages and warm periods (called interglacials) are recorded in the Greenland ice sheet. Occurring over ONE OR TWO DECADES, the warming of the Earth at the end of the last ice age happened much faster than the rate of change of the Earth’s orbit."
NASA link: http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/Study/Paleoclimatology_Evidence/Images/gisp2_temperature.gif

NASA data has proved that the "Little Ice Age" was caused by less light reaching the earth ("solar variability", which means changes in the sun).

NASA's data about the little ice age. http://tinyurl.com/227h3p or ftp://ftp.ncdc.noaa.gov/pub/da... (This data can be copied and pasted it into Excel to chart it.)

Other facts:
1) 6,000 years ago, the earth was hotter than it is today. 6,000 years is less than a second when compared with the age of the earth.
2) Temperatures dropped in the 1950's and 1990's when CO2 levels were increasing.
3) 140,000 years ago the earth had record CO2 levels and there were no gasoline powered cars.
4) 20,000 years ago, Canada was one big ice cube and half of the U.S. was covered with Ice. The grand canyon was formed by melting ice ages over 20 million years.
5) The temperature of the Earth has only increased by 0.65 of a degree in the last 110 years. There were faster increases in temperatures around 10,000 years ago and there were no gasoline powered cars during that time
6) NASA scientific data has shown most of the changes of temperature are due to changes in the Sun. Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto all have global warming right now
7) Also, strong hurricanes are normal. Hundreds of years ago, they used to sink ships off of the coast of Florida.
8) THIS GLACIER DIDN'T EXIST 7,000 YEARS ago. And that was after the Ice Age.
"A few thousand years ago, there were no glaciers here at all"..."Back then we would have been standing in the middle of a forest"
