I'm 14, will be 15 in a little over half a year. I weigh about 115-120. I'm 5"6 when I last checked, but i think i'm about 5"6 and 1/2 now. Is it possible that I might grow some more? (keep in mind my age). I wouldn't be considered beautiful, personally i think pretty is stretching it, but many people tell me i'm striking, and there's something about me that makes them look twice. I have the model's figure (my legs are really long - over 2/3 of my body) and with some exercises, i could get rid of any extra flab within two weeks or so.
Do you have to have a Kate Moss anorexic figure to ever make it in modelling? I would be interested in everything from haute couture to commercial. Also, I'm Indian living in the U.S. (my parents are from India) would that be any problem, as I don't see very many asian models nowadays?

As a model for 3 years who recently stopped her career as one, I have to say 14 (even almost 15) is a young age. I was 14 when I started and I regret making that decision.

I won't lie to you. The modelling industry is ruthless and if they think there's something wrong with you, photographers, stylists, agencies and casting agents will tell you right there, right then.

I'd love to say that it's about personality and confidence, but unfortunately the girls who make it in Milan are very, very thin. Almost 90% of all models are underweight, and the pressure increases to drop smaller and smaller the "bigger" you get.

Most designers, and please don't think I'm being homophobic, are gay. I don't mind that at all! Don't get me wrong! BUT it means they want boy, or even adrogynous shapes for thier clothes. NO hips, no bust, no waist, just a stick that can walk. (I got into the scary side of that, and now I'm a recovering anorexic. I was at a BMI of 16.)

BUT of course, that it catwalk. If you have a striking face, you should give an agency a try, because there is plenty of editorial and tv work available.

If you DO decide to go ahead with it, please be assured with yourself and don't let anyone make you feel like you need to lose weight. And keep your head in a good space! Good luck!

Of course..You have a big chance to be a model.. Just take care of yourself right now, like your skin, teeth and all...Your physical appearance matters a lot!
Read many fashion magazines and learn from them. If you want to be a runway model, try watching runway shows in the television or even in Youtube...
If you're confident enough, do a portfolio and find an agent!
There's a lot of sites that give tips on becoming a model..good luck!

Realisticly its a tough area to get into. A lot of times it comes down to knowing someone or being in the right place at the right time. Even then if you do get a job, sooner then later they will want a fresh face. There are so many young girls that want to do modeling. If your extremely competitive and don't mind a lot of rejection then it may be something you'd like. Otherwise I'd recommend finding something else you can enjoy!! Good Luck in either one! :)

The thin model look is phasing out. More "real" models are being used. Too thin models are starting too get banned around the world for being a bad influence. You have a pretty good chance of being a model. Good Luck.

The problem is your height. You aren't really tall enough. You'd have a much better shot if you were at least 5'9". Many girls stop growing around your age. Hopefully you'll grow a bit more.
