Absolutely!
A couple things, my brother died of cancer and it took his life, one freedom at a time; it took his voice, it took this country kid's ability to garden; it made him a prisoner in the home he loved as he lay hooked to suction tubes in a hospital bed in his living room. My precious brother rejoiced in each day, because he had lived his life doing and giving for others.

A beautiful young 17 year old came into the salon where my husband and I were getting our hair cut, she was absolutely a lovely person. She seemed very solemn as she sat there with her long silky hair being cut right above her shoulders, then when asked why she would do such a thing, she proudly and with such sweetness shared that she had the privilege to do this once before and she planned to again, she shared a part of herself, something every young woman cherishes, her hair.

No one can explain the message that was shared that day, it spread through the salon and I'm sure carried to the homes of the clients; as young as this woman was, she carried the message of what we are supposed to be about and that is in making this journey better for everyone whose path you cross along the way.

OMG... I just cut off about 6 inches of hair. I totally could have had it sent to Locks of Love! *slaps forehead* I'll have to do that next time.

Yes. I do it every few years. I fear this year will have to be my last. :-( Currently my hairs is almost to my butt, and I have gotten a few more grey hairs this time in it. My daughter has done it once already, when she was 7 that is what she wanted to do. Bless her heart, and all others who do this for those who suffer diseases that make them loose their hair, especially children.

How long does your hair have to be? Mine is about 5 to 6 inches long and I've been thinking about shaving it.

Yes I think it is an AWSOME thing!!! But you know what my aunt's hair is down to her butt and Locks of Love wouldn't take it because she has gray in it...Older people need hair too...

I think that's a wonderful and generous thing to do; my hair does not qualify for inclusion in that; I bleach, and it is extremely fine and thin. It just doesn't have the texture they need. I have several friends, however, who have done it, and I admire them for it! One is a guy, which is even cooler!

no, my hair gets too stringy and is gray in spots

my daughters are 5 and 7 and I've talked to them about it and i hope they will do that eventually when the time comes. for someone with cancer or alopecia, that would be the best gift in the world.
