I would like to do a Latch hook rug, but i would like it to be of the New Zealand Allblacks Logo. So like, a rug that is mainly black, with the silver fern and the words "allblacks" on it. Ive never done a latch hook rug before, where do i begin at getting a pattern or design for something like this?

If you can find the design in cross-stitch, you could just tranfer that to the rug. I would get plain canvas (you know, that grid thing-y you work with) and mark the squares with markers in the colors you want to work with (if you don't have a cross stitch pattern, do what the other guys said and work it out on a graph paper grid first). Then, work it like a regular latch hook rug.

However, you know that latch hooking takes a huge amount of time, don't you? My daughter can do about one 8-inch line in a half an hour, then she's bored. Some work a little faster than that, but depending on the size, it can take a long time. I think you should buy a kit first, or work on a latch-hook pillow first (with your NZ All-blacks Logo) -- start small, and if you like it, go for the big rug.

BUT, it can be done if you stick with it! Good luck!

BTW -- don't know how to make the design on graph paper? You can get a poster of your design, then lay the canvas grid on top of it. What is the predominant color in that square? Color the graph paper grid that color (or simply mark the bottom of that square on the canvas with the predominant color). You should get something very close to what you want.

You need some kind of software to convert a picture to a graph. If you can make up your picture, you can try LEGOs website. They have an option for making a flat lego picture/mosaic out of a snapshot. You could go through the graph making process, but use it for latchhook, cross stitch, or whatever you like! Try "the stitchery" maybe. I have seen where you can send in a photo and get a graph.

you can work the design out on graph paper, then you have to find the latch hook canvas in a size to suit you and the precut yarn is easier than cutting it,
