Like they have said before all of the situations are real but because they have to get everything in and they never know when something will really happen they have to ask them to film it out again. It's just like the phone conversations. You can't possibly be filming to people at trhe same time right? You can't possibly know who's calling and when.

I think it's about half and half, some of it's real but I think sometimes they tell them to do stuff to make the show more interesting. Like when the guys ask the girls to prom and they do all these super romantic things, now come on anybody do that for your prom?

it is real but, they ask the participants to re-enact a situation that happened off camera, such as the scene where heidi and lc are arguing.
