Farts are considered so embarrassing that we still don't have a commonly accepted word for them.
"Flatus" is the technical and scientific term.
There are many euphemisms for farts (I'm sure you've heard of quite a few) ; "let off", "shoot a fairy", "fluff", "bum burp", "cut the cheese" etc.
Words were invented as "nice" alternatives to the word "fart" such as "exogust", "flatulate", "boomerate" and "exmeteorate", but none were accepted.

I am sure there is a medical term for it, or at least a medical term for gas. I don't know what it is. There is a medical term for just about everything. If you really want to know, you could try googling a medical dictionary to look it up. They might just use the term flatulence, which is the correct (non-slang) term.
