I`ve felt that way several times. I think it`s just a state of semi-conciousness, where your mind is aware, but not yet connected to your body. It seems a little scary, but I don`t think it`s to worry about.

The body has a natural mechanism that per vents you from harming yourself during times of rest. It is natural and 99 percent of us have it. What it does is shuts down the motor skill of your body so that you wont thrash around during sleep and hurt yourself. Sometimes this function doesn't shut itself off right away when you awaken and it can feel as if you are being held or cannot move. Use you computer to look up sleep disorders you will find all the information you need in there.

It is not a demon, this is a neurological event. It happens to alot of people and is kind of like a little seizure. Its clled sleep paralysis, most people have had a dream where they were running etc but couldn't get their legs to move right, it is this sensation but instead of ocurring when the brain is asleep, part of the brain is still awake. She doesn't need help, although talking with a doctor may comfort her. To make this go away, when she feels it happening, she needs to keep breathing, calm her heart and mind down and allow her body to wake up or her mind to go to sleep. It is a medical experience and there is nothing wrong with her. Email me if you want some more help about it, or she wants to talk to me to help her feel better.

There is a feeling of paralysis that takes place just before an out of body experience, but people who aren't ready for such a thing get scared before they actually leave thier bodies, and may come close to conciousness during that phase of it, and freak out about it, which of course scares them all the more the next time they try to leave the body. Or it could be what is known as night terrors. But I think the first example more likely.

Try a little music that might be easy to go to sleep with. The stage just before sleep is an Alpha state which should be free of distraction or pressure.

Since this happens in a stage of coming awake; it is taking place or both sides of sleep when she is most open to suggestion.

If she is a Christian I would suggest she rebuke this situation before she tries to go to sleep and further ask that the Lord reveal the nature of the problem and help her pass through it untouched when she wakes up.

It is known as an incubus, a (usually) evil spirit (a jinn) who ventures in the night and preys on weak -spirited people. It can paralyze the body and voice. It make make sounds and/or may show itself only as a disembodied head. This is common actually. S/he needs to recall the name of God before she sleeps to keep this away. It's mischievous and has found someone to play with. If she tries to push this force away, it'll use her own strength against her but if she relaxes and submits with a large sigh to remove the tension/feeling, the incubus / succubus does not have power.

Seriously it might be a demon, pushing down on her. Or it's all the stress she has in her life and she feels like it is pushing her down.
