People live longer and better than ever. People have more opportunity than ever, people have more freedom than ever. I don't get that kind of thinking.

Here goes... 9-1-1, There is a war in Iraq and more than enough people have been murdered, we can recall dog food but can not bring the troops home, George Bush is president, children are taking weapons to school, parents are not providing moral thinking in their children, Foul language is being used on TV, music is not music but rather poetry set to music which degrades and puts down these "good ole days," dancing is sex with clothes on, The rich indeed do get richer and the poor do get poorer and nobody really cares, Congress can give itself a raise but minimum wage stays the same as if it were 1930, People have no respect for each other, their is someone in this world who believes these are the good ole days.... Should I go on? Come on you can't be serious. I like the fact that you've chosen to think positively but lets not minimize societal issues.

Because each generation thinks that their prime years are the good old days. While you are correct about people having more freedom and opportunities, people lived longer in days of yore. Methuselah lived to be over 700+ years old. May God Bless U.

It's quite simple... The mind is very powerful. Your brain makes a connection to everything that you have ALREADY experienced. When people start getting nostalgic, their brain will release chemicals that intertwine their past experiences with emotions. When you think back, and reminisce, they are thinking back at only the GOOD memories. They forget that they probably had bad hygiene, and ate 2 slices of bread for dinner. Instead, they'll remember selectively.

the good ol'e days for me, is when we moved to arkansas, dad built the house we lived in. we lived in the country, we would hitch the 2 horses and mule, that my dad let graze on our property, hitch em to the old wagons we had, go down to the swimming hole for a dip, then the horses would take a dip with us, that was in 1971-76. mom used to make home made root beer, but then later i found out it was like a cool-aid packet. those were the good ol'e days, my kids will never get to experience those days gone by.........im 43 now, but at least we've always lived rurally.......................

It depends on ones generation. If you will consider the old they will say it's bad days for them. But if you will consider the new generation, well its really are their good ole days.
