Many solutions.

-4x - 2y = -8 is just the first equation multiplied by -2.
So you really only have ONE equation,
2x + y = 4.

And this one equation has many solutions.

examples: x=0, y=4 OR x=2, y=0...

Genius<--
y = 4 - 2x
-4x - 2(4-2x) = -8
0x -8 = -8 (true)
Ok If you look at the second equation and factor out -2 then you get the first equation
second equation = -2(first equation)
So this system has many solutions because both equations given are the same(the integer factor has no influence)
so therefore we only have one REAL equation and two variables, because we have more variables than equations we can say many solutions.

u got to be kidding

2x+y=4 x 2 = 4x+2y=8
-4x-2y=-8
= 0 and 4 man there alot

2x + y = 4
-4x - 2y = -8

Multiply first equation by 2 and add both equations:
4x + 2y = 8
-4x -2y = -8
note that they cancel to zero
so there is not solution

2x + y = 4
- y -y subtact y from both sides

2x = -4y
it has no soloution

-4x -2y= -8
+4x +4x add 4 to both sides

-2y= (4x-8) re write the equation
_________
-2 ............ -2 ....... divide -2 to get y by itself

y= -2 - (-4)

y= -2 +4 re write using copy change change or boom boom

y=2
it has a solution

resolve for y 4x - 2y = -8 4x - 2y +2y= -8 +2y (upload 2y to the two factors) 4x = -8 + 2y 4x + 8 = -8 +2y + 8 (upload 8 to the two factors) 4x +8 = 2y 2x + 4 = y it incredibly is interior the form mx + b the place m is the slope and b is the y-intercept. consequently slope = 2 y intercept = 4 Calculating x-intercept is easy. merely set y=0 so which you get 4x -2(0) = -8 4x = -8 x = -2

2x + y = 4, so y = 4 - 2x

-4x - 2(4 - 2x) = -8

-4x -8 +4x = -8

-8 = -8 - so x can be anything, in terms of y.
----------------------------------------

2x = 4 - y

x = (4-y)/2

-4((4-y) / 2) -2y = -8

-4 ( 2 - 1/2y) - 2y = -8

-8 + 2y - 2y = -8

-8 = -8 so, y can be anything, in terms of x

2x+y=4...........1
y=4-2x.......2

-4x - 2y = -8....3

Put 2 into 3.

-4x-2(4-2x)=-8
-4x-8+4x=-8
0=0

It has no solution. I hope this helps.:)

both equations represent the same line.

solution/(s) to linear equations in two variables is/(are) the intersection/(s) of the lines represented by the equations.

therefore, there are infinitely many solutions because the lines overlap(since both equations represent the same line..
