Once the initial burning subsides its okay but then when the sex is over my insides feel really raw and sore. I think I may be allergic to spermicide seeing how I've never had a problem wearing latex gloves. I tried to prove this theory by buying the contraceptive inserts (disolving spermicide) and it really really burned. This time it not only burned me but also my partner. Is this an allergy to spermicide? What are the chances we are both allergic to it??? We refuse to have sex without condoms with spermicide so any answers that could help would be great.

what you are allergic to in all likelyhood is the chemical component of spermicide known as nonoxynol-9 (or 5 i forget which) either way. about 30% of people are allergic to this chemical. try finding a spermicide that doesnt use this chemical. failing that you may need to consider an alternate form of contraceptive to spermicides, for the sake of the health of your genitals.

Your focus is very misaligned to say the least girl. This however, fails to surprise me. Your problem lies with fundamentals & not having an open mind. Anyone who REFUSES to have sexual intercourse without a rubber can only be labeled BULLHEADED. There are numerous other methods of contraception that are far more reliable than resorting to using a rubber. You need to wake up & smell the roses babe. You are indeed archaic. Get on the pill or something. Condums ?.. spermicide ?.. LOL.... We aren't living in the '60's honey..

I would say hold off on having sex untill you go to the doctor. Your doctor would have more of an idea of whats going on. I would also suggest trying birth control or maybe even and IUD instead. The chances that you are both allergic are probably not high, but deffinetly possible. You might also try using a lubrication. It may also be that it is too strong and maybe the doctor can prescribe something that isn't so strong. I hope this helped.

Are you using any lube? If not, that would definitely help things move along more smoothly and with less pain.

If not, you really should try condoms without spermicide. Condoms alone are nearly always effective, and if it breaks you can use the morning after pill. Spermicide can have some really nasty effects - it almost always gave me UTI's when I used it.

Sounds like you have already diagnosed the problem. I would recommend not using spermicide anymore and getting another form of back up birth control. If you don't want a hormonal birth control like the pill, ask your doctor about a diaphragm.

you could be allergic to latex and non oxynal 9 (spermicide).
I'm allergic to both, so if you insist on condoms, try getting lamb skin, no spermicide...( you'd be better off using another birthcontrol method, because you can't stop the allergy, like you can with nasal/skin/food allergies...)
