If the USA defeat the USSR in the Cold War. Why the Banana Republic of Cuba is still with a Blockade?

First of all, Cuba is not a poverty stricken nation. It has several thriving industries, and is one of the few nations to produce a surplus of food.

The embargo has been in place since the 60's, and its time to be lifted. Most other nations trade with Cuba, and the USA should too.

There is no blockade but there is an embargo on Americans doing business with Cuba. The reason there is an embargo is very simple and it can be summarized with the words "Miami Cubans" and "Swing State"

When Castro took over, some wealthy Cubans lost their property. They ended up in Miami, Florida - and they have a lot of political power. Under the American Electoral College system, the states vote as a block. - Whichever presidential candidate gets the most votes in a particular state gets all of that state's electoral votes. Florida has a large population, so it gets to cast a large number of Electoral Votes in the presidential election.

Florida has about an equal number of people who tend to vote for the Democratic candidate for president and the Republican candidate for president. For that reason it is called a "Swing State." (In the 2000 presidential election, the popular vote for president in Florida was decided by only a few hundred votes.and all of Florida's Electoral votes were awarded to Bush which made him president.)

Neither Democrats nor the Republicans want to alienate the wealthy Miami Cubans, who contribute to political campaigns and who want to take down Castro - and so U.S, policy has not changed for more than 40 year even though Cuba is no threat.

In some ways Cuba may be better off because of the Embargo. It is the only major tourist destination in the world that has not been completely contaminated by American culture and fast food restaurants.

There is no US Blockade of Cuba. We just choose not to buy their goods because we don't like them. Cuba is free to trade with whoever it wants, the US doesn't wish to trade with them.
