Which do YOU think was worse; slavery or the holocaust?

One: Holocaust is worse than slavery as it occured at a time when people people supposedly had gotten past this type of thing, in a civilized, modern country no less.
Two: Slavery is worse than the holocaust, as it lasted for thousands upon thousands of years, since before the dawn of history till the present (depending on your defintion.) It had more victims, so as a question of quantity, it wins. Maybe you should ask which is worse Slavery or Genocide? (eh, but who
would argue for slavery then, outside of New Hampshirese of course.)

Slavery was bad...ppl died.. diseases were rampard, however not all slaves were treated badly. They were fed, some were given citizenship and even some were granted freedom. They also had a place to live. So even though the majority of slaves had it bad, u cannot generalise and say that slavery was a horrible thing....well at least compared to the holocaust.
The fact is 6 million jews died. They were taken away from the homes( like slaves), they were put into camps (like slaves), howvever slaves were not killed in a consecutive manner. Slaves were desinated to complete tasks and jobs for their master. However those ppl who were taken into concentration camps by the Nazis and were led to their death makes the Holocaust at least 15 times worst

Slavery, in particular the Atlantic slave trade. Atrocities do not just effect the victims but the survivors and society as a whole. The after effects of the holocaust was that the western world was horrified, antisemitism, and all racial and ethnic discrimination was diminished in western countries. The after effects of the Atlantic slave trade was theories of white supremacy, the American civil war, damage to African society, and racial discrimination that still exists today. Imagine how much better the world would be today, if the planters in the New world had hired labor instead of using slaves.

A thing to remember is that during the holocaust it wasn't only Jewish people that the Nazi's rounded up then starved, used in inhumaine experaments, killed, and God nows what else, but it was also Pols, Gypys, Checks, Homosexuals, Mentally challenged........ the numbers are estimated at 6 million Jews and 6 million "others" but that is only an estimate.

Slavery is a bad thing and someone else brought it up that is was going on a lot longer than when colonist in America had them, and it's still going on todays illeagablly in some places.

Of course, both were horrible ... but slavery was worse. I'm not criticizing those who said the Jewish holocaust was worse, but there rationale was, more Jews were killed (during World War II) than Africans (during the slave trade). Not true. Conservative estimates say 40 million Africans were killed during the African holocaust.

I think they were both extremely bad because many Innocent people were mistreated terribly But if i had to choose one it would be the Holocaust because Millions of people were killed. The worst part was that they died a painful death. While Slaves who were also mistreated got to keep their lives.

I would say the Holocaust (Thank god you spelled it right - I just can't spell it) about 3 million folks died mainly jews but some otherslike the handicapped & mentally Ill were zoomed off to the gas chambers too. Lucky for me I wasn't born then

holocaust...millions died during this event.....slavery was bad but at least their offspring have better lives because of it. Instead of sweating in a third world country.
