I would pick Kevin Durant, but a lot of NBA teams want a dominant center Greg Oden will be picked first.

If they both decide to come out then i would think Kevin Durant. He averages over 25 points a game and can shoot from anywhere. But Greg Oden may be interesting for a team that is lacking in defense because of his size.

Most likely, Oden will go first. Of course, it depends on who is picking first, but the vast majority of teams will go for Oden. The main reason is that he is a stud defensively and emerging offensively. That is the type of anchor you need to win a championship. Durant is a phenomenal player, but look at it this way:

You can compare Durant's game with that of Kevin Garnett and Tracy McGrady, while you can compare Oden with Tim Duncan and Shaquille O'Neal. Garnett and McGrady - 0 titles; Duncan and O'Neal - 7 titles.

They'll both be great, but Oden will be off the board first.

Despite the fact that Durrant is a more polished player at this point, Oden would probably be the first pick if he leaves. As many of the previous answers pointed out, talented centers just aren't out there any more. You have to grab 'em when you can. Oden has the potential to be a major force on both ends. And a center who can shut down the middle on defense is worth his weight in gold.

While Durant is the better player, there are plenty of guys who can do what he can and not many who are 7 foot tall. As the cliche goes, you can't teach height. Oden may not be the most polished player now, but he has heart and the willingness to learn, and then oh yeah, height. The fact of the matter is, teams just don't pass up on guys his size. Remember Detroit taking Darko Milicic because of his size over the likes of Carmelo, Bosh, and D-Wade?

So what he's 7 Feet tall? he's still a baby i seriously seriously doubt he could get on the floor and have an immediate effect like durant can , Oden to me is very unpolished, i think he is a big risk for anyteam, offensivlely he's horrible in my opinion and those easy shots because of size and height wont come half as easy in the nba... while durant can go get his own shot at anytime and it wont take but a offseason to start getting his body in more NBA form so i'd be durant for more skill, more immediate effectiveness and just more talent

Assuming they both come out, which is likely, Oden will be picked before Durant only because of his height/size and all the hype surrounding him. More hype equals more fans, which rake in cash. The NBA is a business, unfortunately. They are both about equal in skill level and potential, but there is no question as to who will be the first pick.

it's tough. I think Durant is a better player, but like they say, you can't teach height. Oden is one of the most talented, athletic big men to come along in several years and he's a good player to stick in the middle of any team. Durant may be one of the best players drafted in the next several years, but I think he'll be passed over for the taller guy.

Oden, passing on a skilled big mobile young center is the kind of thing that gets general managers fired...there will always be skilled perimiter players, even larger ones, but a center...a big man with up side...very very rare, that alone is the reason my friend's team decided not to part with Bynum for Kidd before the trading deadline...
