i have had an abortion and it was obviously not a pleasant thing to do, but i know i made the right decision. i was not ready for a baby and when abortion is illegal women just seek out backyard abortions which are extremely dangerous. accidents can happen no matter how careful ppl are and what is the point in bringing a person into the world that u can not look after

Tch. You will never be half the woman that Alexandra is, Baba Yaga. Grow up.

I have to say I think abortion should be legal, though. My belief is that there should be a compromise, i.e., abortion is allowed up to a certain point (preferably before organs start forming). I think we should make access to birth control available enough that abortion AFTER that point (or some measure of months) would be rendered illegal (as it would be criminal negligence or something similar on the part of the pregnant woman). Certain brutal types of abortion should also probably be outlawed.

I can understand arguments from either viewpoint, however, as both the "The zygote has its own DNA" and the "Women should be able to choose what to do with their own bodies" arguments are important considerations.

In any event, condoms and morning-after pills should really be sufficient to stop something like that. They should probably be made a little cheaper and accessible, too- that would certainly lower the prevalence of unwanted pregnancies.

It is in most states. Choice should be legal. The government should not be able to tell a woman what she can do with her body. Abortion is a moral choice, not a legal one. My birth control failed (a copper 7 IUD) and my daughter is now 28. Choice means having a choice, not pro-abortion. No one wants to have an abortion whom I've ever met.

I fully believe it's the woman's right to have it... although as a man I wish that there could be a say but it must be carried by her so it's her choice. If abortion was illegal there would be unwanted children and more kids in the always popular foster system. If it was completely outlawed it was be awful can you remember a time that you had a close call as a teenager, student, or growing in the work place. Everything would change from then on.

I am against abortion because I believe God brings cells to life and who am I to kill it, but I also know a lot of grown friends thru my adulthood who have suffered horribly with emotions from having had abortions. REad the book "Tilly"and you will really get a great insight. It is an enjoyable and enlightening book to read.

When it comes right down to it, who do you trust more? The mother of 6 children or someone who worships a dead Hebrew nailed to two pieces of wood?

The minute they make abortion illegal, people will just have illegal abortions. The choice is rather clear, you can either have safe procedures that don't put the mothers in harms way, or the mothers find another to get rid of the fetus, potentially killing themselves.

Not even the religious right can argue that improvised abortions are better than medical ones, though they will try and tout the fact that people "just won't do it if its illegal/hard to do". Yeah... tell that to all the drug addicts out there churchy...

It's murder, and "privacy" doesn't apply. In fact, the only place the right to privacy is implied in the Constitution is in the Fourth Amendment--that's where a warrant is needed to search for anything.

Roe v Wade was a RULING, not a law, and an unconstitutional one at that. Blackmun, who authored the ruling, even admitted that if it were known that the unborn child was human, Roe wouldn't have gone through.

Well, science has proved that human life begins at conception. And to take innocent life is murder.

Yes, abortion should be legalized because, people aren't responsible enough to care for babies so that they can have a healthy environment, adoption houses are being over-filled, and (the most hardest point) no one wants them. We people have sex they do it in a moment lust not thinking of what the consequences are. When they do have their baby they have no where to take care of it and are too ashamed to ask for help, which leads to my second point adoption houses. You hear stories of abusive parents adopting and torturing their young children, which leaves scars on the children's minds and believe it or not it causes them to abuse their own children.

It is legal, and should stay legal due to the fact that voting against abortion would be a form of slavery inflicted upon women who do not want children.
