On all groceries sold, the package indicates the company that distributed the product. For example, "Distributed by Kroger, Cincinnati, OH 45202".
Does this mean that this company manufactured the product? Or is it likely that it was manufactured by one company and distributed by another? I know this is common in some industries, but not sure about groceries.

Grocery chains on occasion produce their own foods, but very, very rarely. Most of the Store brands are produced by the regular manufacturers of the product. For example, Campbells makes most store brand soups. Then the grocery chain just distributes the soups to their stores (which is what it means on your example).

No. For example say the product is Dole. It is manufactured by Dole and sent to a Kroger distribution plant (which in some cases is ran by a third party). It is shipped from the plant to the grocery stores.
