I think you'll find a lot of people have something against psychology. Someone only needs to have a bad experience with a psychologist to consider them "all" harmful to humans. If they say something the client disagrees with or comes up with a plan or approach the client doesn't agree with they see them "all" in a negative light.

I suppose some Christians feel that seeking out someone other than God, Jesus or the Lord for counseling with your problems is wrong. But I think most Christians nowadays accept that God, Jesus or the Lord works in mysterious way and that a doctor or psychologist is one of those mysterious ways.

Yes and no.

Some of us Christians believe that God has everything to offer us that psychology merely tries to help with. I personally believe that psychology in many ways mislabels mental conditions that would otherwise just be a normal behavior. I'm tired of seeing parents drug-induce their kids with medication for ADD, ADHD, etc. just because a psychologist says so. When actually all the kid needs is either more time with their Mommys and Daddys or some time to let their energy out, or a little bit of both.

Plus, many of the founding fathers of psychiatry/pyschology were atheists and many of the principles adopted into the practice are unBiblical.

On the other hand, there are many Christian counselors who incorporate a bit of psychiatry/psychology and Christian counseling into their practice. The Bible instructs us to NOT turn away from Godly counsel and wisdom. And that's where I believe psychiatry/psychology can play an instrumental role in Christian growth and maturity.

There is a great article on this topic about Christianity and Psychology that is worthy of your time to read. You can find it at http://www.newswithviews.com/Ohara/debbie16.htm if you truly want to learn more about this.

Some definitely do, my kids call it psycho-babble, I've had lots of great counseling and am a Christian , my kids are grown Christians so ????????????????? Christians are usually on one side of the fence or the other, but did you know that about 85% of counselors etc are actually co-dependents, not such a good thing.

No, a good counselor is very helpful. We are told in scripture to not take counseling from the ungodly though. Mmm

Most do. Since any psychologist worth the name will point out that the harder one tries to convince others, the more likely that one is unsure of those beleifs oneself.
