I am 21 and am about to have mine in june. I have severe neck and sholder pain and cannot do any rigorous exercise and have a 1 year old. Can someone describe how it will be after the surgery and what kind of healing I can expect? Thanks

I had mine last year (Feb 2006) and had five pounds taken off my chest.

The pain was GONE as soon as I awoke in the recovery room.

You need to take off at least two weeks from work, more if you are in an active physical job. You are on light duty for about a month, at least until the incisions close, then slowly work your way back to normal activities.

Do you have anyone to help you with your 1 year old? You should not be lifting your kid for at least a month.

Make sure you follow your doctors instructions and ask him any questions, no matter how silly you think they are.

I personally did not have any pain and didn't need the vicodin, but I do know many women who were in pain and took their vicodin.

Good luck!

honestly, a 21 yr old should NOT have a breast reduction unless the size of the breasts are causing a tremendous amount of health issues, because the breasts are still growing. Generally, the breasts will continue to develop past the age of 21, and many women report that their breasts don't seem to really finish filling out until 25 or so. It sounds like they are causing you a lot of trouble, though, so a breast reduction in your case might be the only option (as long as you have tried other things like pain meds, muscle relaxers, and massage therapy). Surgery should always be the last option, especially when you are that young.
I have never had a breast reduction, but it should be quite awhile until you recover. You'll be on pain meds for quite awhile after the surgery as well, since many women report a lot o fpain after the procedure

Good Luck. I hope the surgery helps and doesn't cause too many problems

You can probably get a better idea of that from your doctor. How fast you will heal depends alot on you - what kind of shape you are in, how active you are following your surgery, how much of a reduction you are having, if any complications and how well you follow doctors orders.

I personally haven't had a reduction (but would love to!). I have two friends that have though. One friend was very overweight and was not active after her surgery. She only got out of bed to use the bathroom. Her recovery took about two to three weeks.

My other friend was in average shape for her surgery and she was immediately actvie afterwards. She didn't run a marathon or anything but she didn't just sit around. She would get up and walk around, cook and other easy things. She was only sore for about a week or so. Her doctor actually recommend for her not to just sit around or lay around in bed because it would delay her healing process.

So my suggestion for you would be to follow the doctors orders whatever they maybe.

Good Luck to you and congrats!

My feeling is that 21 is purely too youthful to have any style of plastic surgical treatment by using fact your physique has no longer totally settled down into its grownup shape. yet once you're having real problems with lower back soreness by using fact of great breasts i will see that it truly is something to especially evaluate. even nevertheless you will possibly be able to desire to ensure a physiotherapist first and notice if there is something you're able to do to assist your backache - basic workouts and stretches - in the previous assuming it truly is all to do which contain your breasts.
