I know my PC is capable. System board and NIC. But is there a program that I can use to send the magic packet to utilize this function?
At work we use SMS, but obviously that aint gonna work on a little home network.

Sure, check the wikipedia link below. Towards the bottom of this, there are various means to create a script and then there is some down-loadable programs such as WOL1.3

* also check the requirements for your NIC. some require a wired connection to a WOL header on the motherboard for any Wake On Lan functions to operate
