Find a common denominator and then reduce the fraction.
The reciprocal of 6 = 1/6.
The reciprocal of 8 = 1/8
24 is the lowest common denominator.
1/6 = 4/24 (6x4= 24)
1/8 = 3/24 (3x8=24)
4/24 + 3/24 = 7/24
and the reciprocal of 7/24 = 24/7

The reciprocal of 6 is 1/6 and the reciprocal of 8 is 1/8. To add these the denominators have to be the same number. So mutiply 1/6 by 4 to get 4/24 and 1/8 by 3 to get 3/24. Add the numerators and you get 7/24.
